The Somersetter is written by two Somerset-based writers, who like living there very much and kept thinking that someone really should start a newsletter with all the amazing things happening in the county. So they did.
Alexia began her career as a journalist at Time Out London, before going freelance and writing music features and reviews for The Times, the BBC and, particularly, The Independent. She has also contributed to several Time Out guidebooks, including the London Food Guide and the Athens city guide. Alexia was a member of the Mercury Prize judging panel for three consecutive years (2004-2006). She now lives in Somerset and is the mother of three children. Alexia is generally at her happiest when she’s at the beach, in some woods or reading the papers by the fire in a really nice pub.
Chris also worked for Time Out London, where he progressed to Music Editor before leaving to go freelance. Since then, he has written extensively for The Guardian and contributed to Modern Painter and Four Four Two magazines, as well as becoming a regular reviewer of albums on BBC Radio 2’s Jo Whiley show. Chris has contributed to Time Out guidebooks including the London guide, the Cheap Eats guide and the Days Out From London guide. He now lives in Somerset with his young family. Chris is generally at his happiest on top of a mountain, on the train to somewhere he hasn’t been before or watching a match at an obscure football ground.
